The CSIO Barcelona, the oldest international event in Spain and one of the most important equestrian events of the season, ended its 105th edition in success. 20 different nations, 98 riders and 170 horses are some of the figures that summarize the showjumping competition that took place between September 22 and 25 in the facilities of the Real Club de Polo of Barcelona (RCPB).
On top of the sporting competition, the 60.000 visitors who went to the iconic club throughout the weekend were able to enjoy the new PoloPark, a recreational area over 18.000m2 located in the polo field, with 125 vendors, live music, a wide range of gastronomical options and activities for all ages.
Visitors also witnessed some great shows like the stellar performance by the singer Monica Green, in a show with lights, fire and pyrotechnics sponsored by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), as well as various performances by Santi Serra, the widely acclaimed horse whisperer winner of the TV show “Tú sí que vales”.
In conclusion, the CSIO Barcelona was one of the social events of the year, coinciding with the Mercè Festivities (official city holiday), that put Barcelona as a reference in the equestrian world, being broadcasted on TV in 137 countries from 5 continents for more than 150 hours.
This year is presented the new obstacle tribute to Joan Miro
98 riders from 20 countries have participated in 9 competitions, amongst which the Furusiyya FEI Nations CupTM Jumping Final, the most important team competition in the world that has been hosted in Barcelona for the fourth consecutive year and that has become the equestrian competition with the biggest prize money (more than 2,3 million euros).
